Costume Design with Foundation Year

Costume design is a discipline that combines artistic creativity with rigorous historical and cultural research, material knowledge, and technical craft. This four-year full-time programme at the University of Salford includes a foundation year, providing a structured entry into degree-level creative study. The foundation year develops your artistic foundations and prepares you for the demands of the main programme, in which you will develop your skills in costume design, construction, pattern cutting, and research. You will engage with the history of dress and fashion, the traditions of theatrical costuming, and the technical processes of making garments for performance.
