Construction Project Management

Construction project management is the discipline of planning, coordinating, and delivering built environment projects from inception through to completion. It sits at the interface between technical construction knowledge and the management skills needed to bring complex, multi-stakeholder projects in on time and within budget. This three-year full-time programme at the University of the West of England, Bristol, develops your skills in project planning and scheduling, contract management, cost management, procurement, site management, and the health and safety frameworks that govern construction activity in the UK. You will study the technical aspects of building construction alongside the commercial and legal context in which projects are delivered, developing a rounded understanding of the built environment sector from the client's initial brief through to practical completion. The sandwich year and work placement opportunities give you substantial professional experience in a real construction or project management environment before you graduate, which is highly valued by employers in a sector that places significant emphasis on practical competence.
