About this course

Computing is a discipline that covers the design, development and application of software and hardware systems, and the principles of programming, algorithms and data management that underlie them. At advanced entry level, this programme is suited to students who have already completed relevant higher education study, whether an appropriate Higher National Certificate or equivalent credits from a prior undergraduate programme in a relevant subject, and who wish to complete a full honours computing degree efficiently.

At the University of Portsmouth this two-year full-time programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study computing in an international academic environment during your studies. Portsmouth has a strong reputation in computing and technology, with well-equipped facilities and strong industry connections, and the advanced entry route allows you to build on your prior study and reach a degree-level qualification through a focused and intensive programme. You will engage with advanced topics in computing, including software engineering, systems architecture, networking, databases, security and computing theory, building on the foundations established in your earlier study.
