Computing is the study of the principles, methods and systems through which computers process, store and communicate information. It encompasses algorithms, programming, software development, data structures, databases, networks, operating systems and the human and organisational contexts in which computational systems are built and used. As computing has become the infrastructure of modern economic, social and professional life, the skills that a computing degree develops have become among the most widely demanded in the graduate labour market.

At Nottingham Trent, this four-year programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study computing at an international partner institution and gain a broader perspective on the discipline and its professional applications in a different country. You will study the core areas of computing, including programming in multiple languages, software engineering, system design, databases, networking, cyber security, artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction, developing both the technical skills to build systems and the analytical ability to understand and evaluate them. Nottingham Trent has strong industry connections, and the programme is designed to develop graduates who are ready to contribute immediately to professional computing environments.

The typical entry tariff is 120 UCAS points.

Computing graduates are in consistent and strong demand across every sector of the economy. Software developer, systems engineer, database administrator, network engineer, cybersecurity analyst, data analyst, UX designer and IT project manager are among the most common roles.
