About this course

Computer science is the study of computation: what can be computed, how it can be computed efficiently, and how computational systems can be designed, built, and managed reliably. It is a discipline with profound theoretical foundations, including the mathematical theory of algorithms, data structures, and computability, and with an equally enormous range of practical applications spanning software development, artificial intelligence, databases, networks, cybersecurity, and the design of user interfaces. The pace of change in computing means that the subject matter of the field is constantly evolving, but the underlying principles of abstraction, algorithm design, and systems thinking remain foundational.

At the University of Northampton, this three-year full-time programme provides a solid grounding in computer science theory and practice. You will study programming, algorithms and data structures, software engineering, database design, computer systems and architecture, and networking, developing the technical fluency that graduate-level computing requires.
