About this course

Computer information systems is a discipline concerned with the design, implementation, and management of the information technology systems that organisations depend on. It sits between pure computer science and business management, asking not just how systems can be built but how they can be deployed effectively in real organisational contexts, and how information flows within and between organisations can be designed to support good decision-making and efficient operations. In an economy where every organisation now depends on digital information systems, this combination of technical and business understanding is highly valuable.

At Bangor University, this three-year full-time programme develops your skills in information systems analysis, database management, software development, networking, and project management alongside an understanding of how organisations use information technology strategically. The programme includes an integrated foundation year for students who wish to build their technical and academic foundations before the main degree, as well as a sandwich year with a year abroad and work placement that give you direct professional experience in an IT or information management role and international exposure. Entry typically requires around 120 UCAS tariff points.

Computer information systems graduates work in IT management, systems analysis, business analysis, database administration, IT project management, software development, and a wide range of technology-facing roles in organisations of all kinds.
