Comparative literature is the study of literature across cultural and national frontiers, time periods, languages, and genres, even across the boundaries between literature and the other arts. German brings you into direct contact with one of the richest literary and philosophical traditions in the world, from Goethe and Schiller through Mann, Brecht, and Sebald to contemporary writing, alongside the linguistic competence to engage with that tradition in the original.
