About this course

Civil engineering shapes the world people live in, from the roads and bridges that connect communities to the water systems, flood defences, and energy infrastructure that underpin modern society. It is one of the oldest engineering disciplines, yet it remains at the forefront of responding to the most urgent challenges of our time, including climate change, urbanisation, and the need to build and maintain infrastructure that is both resilient and sustainable. Civil engineers bring together mathematics, materials science, fluid mechanics, and structural analysis to design solutions that are safe, practical, and enduring.

At the University of Bath, this three-year full-time programme develops the practical and technical skills needed to design and engineer the built environment. You will study the core areas of structural, geotechnical, environmental, and hydraulic engineering, gaining the analytical tools to model how structures and systems behave under real-world conditions.
