Civil Engineering
Civil engineering is the discipline responsible for designing, constructing and maintaining the essential infrastructure of modern societies: roads, railways, bridges, tunnels, water systems, flood defences, buildings and the foundations on which everything else rests. Civil engineers work on some of the most complex and consequential projects in any society, combining rigorous structural, hydraulic and geotechnical analysis with the creative problem-solving needed to deliver built environments that are safe, durable, sustainable and fit for purpose. At Swansea University this three-year, full-time programme develops your understanding of the fundamental engineering sciences alongside the specialist knowledge and design skills that civil engineering practice demands. You will study structural mechanics, soil mechanics and geotechnics, hydraulics and water management, transportation engineering, materials and construction technology, and project management, building both the technical knowledge and the professional skills that employers expect.
