Business and management and psychology are disciplines that speak directly to each other. Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour, examining how people think, act, react, and interact, and how that understanding can be applied to help individuals and address wider social challenges. Management is about directing organisations and the people within them towards shared goals.

The two together create a degree that is grounded in both the science of human behaviour and the practical demands of organisational life.

At Glasgow this four-year full-time programme includes a year abroad, giving you direct international experience alongside your academic development. You will study psychology in its breadth, engaging with cognitive, social, developmental, biological, and research-methods perspectives, and developing the scientific rigour and reflective practice that psychological training demands. Alongside this you will build a thorough grounding in the core areas of business and management, including strategy, marketing, finance, organisational behaviour, and operations.

The combination is particularly coherent because so much of management, from leadership and motivation to consumer behaviour and negotiation, is grounded in psychological understanding.

Research methods are central to psychology, and you will develop skills in designing studies, collecting data, and interpreting findings that have wide applicability in both business and academic contexts. Glasgow's four-year honours structure gives you time to develop genuine depth in both disciplines and to pursue areas of personal interest as you progress.

Graduates from Business and Management with Psychology go on to careers in human resources, organisational development, marketing, research, management consultancy, and the wide range of professional roles in which understanding people is central to effectiveness. The scientific training in psychology is also excellent preparation for postgraduate routes in occupational or organisational psychology. Further study at masters level in business, psychology, or a combined field is a common next step.
