About this course

Business management with sustainability is a degree designed for a moment when the relationship between commercial success and environmental responsibility has become one of the central questions of organisational life. The ability to integrate innovative business strategies with a commitment to long-term environmental and social impact is increasingly not a niche specialism but a core competence that organisations across every sector are seeking. This programme develops both the business management skills that are foundational to any career in commerce and the specific understanding of sustainability, environmental leadership, and social responsibility that makes graduates distinctive in a rapidly changing professional landscape.

At Keele this three-year full-time programme develops your skills in management, strategy, marketing, finance, and operations alongside deep engagement with sustainability as a business and societal challenge. You will study how organisations can pursue commercial objectives while managing their environmental footprint, contributing to social goals, and building the kind of long-term resilience that increasingly determines whether businesses succeed or fail in a world of tightening environmental regulation and shifting consumer and investor expectations.

A sandwich year provides the opportunity to spend a full year in a professional environment, and a year abroad allows you to encounter sustainability challenges and business approaches in a different international context. Work placements are integrated throughout, connecting your academic learning to real organisations grappling with sustainability challenges.

Graduates move into careers in sustainability management, corporate social responsibility, environmental strategy, consultancy, impact investment, non-profit leadership, and general management roles in organisations where sustainability is a genuine strategic priority. Many also continue to postgraduate study in sustainability, business, or environmental management.
