About this course

Business management combined with international business prepares you to work in and lead organisations that operate across national boundaries. Modern commercial life is shaped by global supply chains, multinational firms, cross-cultural workforces, and rapidly shifting geopolitical and economic conditions. Understanding how organisations function in this environment, and how to navigate the cultural, legal, and strategic complexities involved, is a skill set in growing demand.

At Birkbeck College, which has a longstanding tradition of high-quality teaching for students balancing study with work and other commitments, this four-year full-time programme introduces you to the key functions of business in an international context. You will develop a global mindset, studying how organisations and individuals operate across borders and what this means for strategy, marketing, finance, and human resource management. The programme is built around employability and flexibility, ensuring that the knowledge and skills you develop are directly relevant to the demands of international careers.

Birkbeck's London location gives you access to one of the world's great commercial and cultural centres, and the programme makes the most of that context.

Graduates are well placed for careers in international business development, global supply chain management, marketing, consulting, banking, trade, and a wide range of roles in multinational organisations and the public sector. The combination of management fundamentals and international awareness is valued by employers who need graduates who can think strategically across different markets and cultural settings. Many graduates also go on to postgraduate study, including master's degrees in international business, management, or related fields, or professional qualifications that complement their undergraduate training.

The programme genuinely lives up to its reputation. The best part: case-based teaching forces you to think commercially. If I'm honest, admin can be slow to respond, especially at start of term. On the city β€” the city is a brilliant student…

This is the perfect place to study this subject. The best part: the accounting and finance streams are taught by practitioners, not just academics. If I'm honest, some seminar groups were too big for meaningful discussion. On the city β€” goo…
