About this course

Business management and analytics is a degree for the era of data-driven decision-making. Management provides the conceptual frameworks for understanding how organisations work, how strategies are formed, and how resources are allocated. Analytics brings in the quantitative tools and data science capabilities that modern businesses increasingly depend on to understand their markets, their operations, and their customers.

Together they prepare you to operate at the intersection of strategic thinking and evidence-based analysis, which is where many of the most important business decisions are now made.

At Abertay University, this four-year programme is available as an advanced entry from Year 2, meaning students who meet the eligibility requirements can enter directly into the second year and complete the degree in a shorter time. You will develop knowledge of business strategy, marketing, finance, and operations alongside analytical skills in data handling, statistical reasoning, and the use of digital tools that support business intelligence and decision-making. A year abroad option is available, giving you the opportunity to study at a partner institution in another country and to bring an international perspective to your understanding of business and analytics.

Abertay's location in Dundee, one of Scotland's growing technology and creative hubs, enriches the learning environment with proximity to businesses and organisations that are actively integrating data analytics into how they operate. Graduates are well-placed for careers in business analysis, data analytics, marketing analytics, operations management, consulting, financial analysis, and general management across a range of industries. Many also pursue postgraduate study in business, data science, or analytics, building further depth in a field where demand for people who can combine business understanding with analytical capability continues to grow.
