About this course

Business management is the study of how organisations work and how they can be made to work better. It covers strategy, marketing, finance, operations, human resource management, and the leadership and decision-making that hold these functions together. A strong business management education develops both the analytical skills to diagnose organisational problems and the practical knowledge to address them, producing graduates who can contribute meaningfully to organisations from their first day in work.

At the University of East Anglia, this four-year full-time programme incorporates a year in industry, which is built into the degree structure rather than offered as an optional extra. During the year in industry you will work in a real business or organisation, applying the analytical skills and business knowledge you have developed in your first two years and gaining the kind of experience that employers across every sector value. The programme develops your analytical skills and equips you with the tools to lead in an environment where sustainability and the impact of technology are increasingly shaping how organisations operate and compete.

You will build understanding of business strategy grounded in product performance, process efficiency, and effective team building. A typical entry tariff of 120 points applies.

You will develop skills in strategic analysis, financial reasoning, research, communication, teamwork, and the ability to think critically about how organisations create and sustain value. The year in industry adds a layer of professional experience and personal development that classroom-based learning alone cannot provide.

Graduates go on to careers in general management, consulting, marketing, finance, operations, human resources, entrepreneurship, and public sector management, among many other roles. Postgraduate study, including MBA programmes, is a common option for those seeking to accelerate into leadership or specialist roles.

Genuinely worthwhile
Honestly, one of the best decisions I've made. The best part: the careers office is relentless about getting you internships. If I'm honest, a few modules feel under-resourced compared to the flagship ones. On the city β€” good transport link…

A great decision
The programme genuinely lives up to its reputation. The best part: case-based teaching forces you to think commercially. If I'm honest, first-year classes can be quite large. On the city β€” good transport links make it easy to visit other UK…
