About this course

Business management with a focus on tourism brings the core disciplines of management education to bear on one of the world's largest and most complex industries. Tourism encompasses hospitality, travel, attractions, events, destination development, and the vast supply chains connecting them, all subject to changing consumer preferences, geopolitical volatility, regulatory requirements, and growing sustainability pressures. Understanding how to manage and develop businesses in this context requires both commercial acumen and sector-specific knowledge.

At Arden University, this programme is delivered part-time and through distance learning, making it accessible to students who are managing existing work or personal commitments alongside their studies. Many students are already working in tourism, hospitality, or related industries and use the programme to formalise and develop expertise they are building in practice. You will study core management disciplines including strategy, marketing, finance, and operations, alongside content focused on the tourism sector's distinctive characteristics.

The programme also develops professional skills including personal planning and reflective practice, which support career development throughout and beyond your studies.

Graduates are well placed for careers in tourism management, hospitality management, destination marketing, event management, travel operations, and the many roles in the public and voluntary sectors that support tourism development and visitor economy management. The flexibility of the distance learning format means many graduates continue working in their sector throughout their studies, and the qualification typically accelerates progression into management roles. Further study in tourism management, hospitality, business, or a related specialism is open to graduates who wish to develop particular expertise.
