About this course

Business management is the study of how organisations plan, resource, organise, and lead their operations in order to achieve their goals. It is a discipline that touches every aspect of how enterprises function, from strategy and finance to marketing, operations, human resources, and entrepreneurship. A business management degree develops both the theoretical frameworks for understanding organisations and the practical skills for operating effectively within them.

At Cardiff University, the BSc in Business Management is a three-year full-time programme taught through Cardiff Business School. The first year provides a broad foundation across all the major disciplines of business, giving you a thorough grounding in strategy, accounting, marketing, economics, organisational behaviour, and operations before you develop your specialism in later years. Cardiff Business School is one of the UK's well-regarded business schools, with a research-active faculty whose expertise informs the curriculum throughout.

The programme develops your capacity to analyse business problems rigorously and to apply conceptual frameworks to real organisational challenges.

You will graduate with a strong understanding of how businesses operate commercially and strategically, and with the communication, analytical, and collaborative skills that graduate employers across sectors consistently seek. Cardiff's location in the Welsh capital, with its growing professional and commercial economy, adds a practical dimension to the degree.

Business management graduates are among the most broadly employable, going into roles in consulting, financial services, marketing, operations, general management, retail, the public sector, and entrepreneurship. The degree is also a strong foundation for postgraduate study in business, management, or MBA programmes.

Would do it again
I was sceptical before starting β€” now I'd recommend it to anyone. The best part: the teaching staff are genuinely world-class and accessible. If I'm honest, the timetable has some awkward 9am / Friday afternoon slots. On the city β€” the city…

Genuinely worthwhile
Coming here has changed how I think. The best part: small-group tutorials really push your thinking. If I'm honest, first-year classes can be quite large. On the city β€” good transport links make it easy to visit other UK cities at weekends.…
