Business Management and International Relations
Business Management and International Relations is a combination degree that connects the operational and strategic study of organisations with an analytical understanding of how the world is governed, how states and international actors interact, and how global forces shape the environments in which businesses and other organisations must operate. Business management develops your understanding of how organisations function across strategy, operations, finance, marketing and people management, while international relations provides the frameworks for understanding power, security, cooperation and justice at the international level. The combination is directly relevant to organisations operating in a globalised economy.
At Liverpool Hope University, this four-year full-time programme includes a foundation year, a sandwich placement year, a year abroad and work placement opportunities, giving you a richly structured set of academic and professional experiences. You will examine small and medium-sized enterprises alongside global multinational companies, across public, private and not-for-profit sectors, developing the business principles, organisational dynamics and management processes that equip you for leadership in diverse organisational contexts. The international relations strand develops your ability to understand the political, regulatory and cultural environments in which international business is conducted.
Graduates from Business Management and International Relations programmes pursue careers across business, government, international organisations, NGOs, consulting, finance and development. The combination is particularly well-suited to careers in international business development, global supply chain management, public affairs, trade policy, corporate diplomacy and the management of multinational organisations. Many graduates go on to postgraduate study in international business, management or international relations to develop specialist expertise for leadership roles in organisations with significant global ambitions or responsibilities.
