About this course

Business management and computer science is a combination that addresses a real and growing need in the economy. Technology is now central to how almost every organisation operates, and the gap between those who understand business and those who understand technology is a persistent problem for organisations trying to use digital tools effectively. Graduates who are genuinely fluent in both, who can communicate across the technical and commercial divide, are among the most sought-after in the contemporary job market.

At Liverpool Hope University, this three-year full-time programme gives you a strong foundation in business management, covering how organisations are structured, led, and developed, alongside solid training in computer science, including programming, data structures, systems design, and software development. You will study these disciplines in genuine combination, developing the capacity to understand technical decisions in their business context and business decisions in their technical context. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and a work placement, giving you substantial professional and international experience before you graduate.

With a typical entry tariff of 88 UCAS points, the programme is accessible to students with strong academic ability and an interest in both domains.

Graduates from business management and computer science programmes are sought across a wide range of organisations. Technology companies, management consultancies, financial services, the public sector, start-ups, and established companies with significant digital operations all hire graduates who can operate at this intersection. Business analyst, product manager, systems analyst, technology consultant, digital project manager, and data analyst are all common roles.

Postgraduate study in technology management, data science, business analytics, or computer science provides further options for those who wish to specialise.

A great decision
I was sceptical before starting β€” now I'd recommend it to anyone. The best part: you finish with a portfolio that recruiters take seriously. If I'm honest, some seminar groups were too big for meaningful discussion. On the city β€” the city i…

Genuinely worthwhile
I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: coursework pushes you to actually build real systems, not just write essays. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city β€” goo…
