Business Management and Childhood & Youth

Business Management and Childhood and Youth is a combination that connects the principles of commercial and organisational management with specialist knowledge about how children and young people develop, learn and are supported by the organisations and systems around them. Business management gives you an understanding of how organisations are led, financed, marketed and managed across different sectors. Childhood and youth studies brings a developmental, social and ethical lens to questions about how services, programmes and policies are designed and delivered for young people.

Together they are well suited to careers in organisations where both commercial acumen and an understanding of children's needs are relevant.

At Liverpool Hope University this three-year full-time degree draws on Liverpool Hope's particular commitment to combining business education with social and humanistic knowledge. You will study business principles, organisational dynamics and management processes alongside the theory and practice of supporting children and young people across a range of developmental and social contexts. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad and a work placement, giving you substantial professional and international experience to complement your academic study and strengthen your employability across a range of sectors.

Graduates from Business Management and Childhood and Youth degrees go on to careers in a wide range of organisations that serve children, young people and families. Many find roles in children's services, youth organisations, educational management, early years provision, youth justice, social enterprise and charities. Others use the business management component as the foundation for careers in broader commercial, public sector and not-for-profit management contexts.
