Business Information Technology

Business information technology is a degree that addresses one of the most significant realities of contemporary organisational life: almost every business decision now depends on data and digital systems, and the professionals who understand both the technical foundations and the business context of that technology are among the most valuable in the market. Developments in data analysis, artificial intelligence, and automation are transforming what organisations can do and how they are managed, and graduates who can work intelligently at the intersection of computing and business are in growing demand.

At the University of Kent, you will study computing alongside business management, developing the technical skills needed to design, implement, and analyse information systems alongside the commercial and strategic understanding to deploy those skills effectively. You will engage with programming, database management, systems analysis, and digital transformation, as well as business topics including strategy, marketing, and organisational behaviour. The programme develops both analytical and practical competencies, preparing you to work in roles that require you to bridge the gap between technical and business functions.

It runs over three years full-time.

Graduates of business information technology programmes pursue careers in IT management, business analysis, systems consultancy, project management, data analysis, and digital strategy across virtually every sector of the economy. The dual competency the degree develops is valued by employers in commercial, public, and third-sector organisations where technology and business decisions cannot be made independently of each other. Many graduates go on to postgraduate study in information systems, business, or computing, or move directly into graduate schemes in management consulting, technology, or financial services.
