About this course

Business economics with marketing and French brings together three disciplines that each illuminate a different dimension of commercial life in an international context. Business economics provides the analytical tools to understand markets, firm behaviour, pricing, and macroeconomic forces that shape the environment in which organisations operate. Marketing adds a practical and creative strand concerned with understanding customers, building brands, and developing strategies that connect products and services with the people who need them.

French, as a working professional language, opens access to French-speaking markets across Europe, Africa, and beyond, giving this combination a genuinely international reach.

At the University of Dundee, this four-year full-time programme takes you through the core concepts of economics and marketing while developing your French language skills to a professional level. You will study microeconomics, consumer behaviour, market research, strategic marketing, and the economics of business decisions, alongside reading, writing, speaking, and listening in French at an advanced level. A year abroad is built into the programme, giving you the opportunity to study or work in a French-speaking country, deepening both your language fluency and your understanding of how business cultures differ across national contexts.

Graduates from this combination go on to careers in marketing, brand management, market research, commercial roles in international organisations, and economic analysis. French language competence at a professional level opens doors in international trade, diplomacy, the European institutions, and multinational companies. Many graduates also pursue further study in business, marketing, or economics, or go on to professional qualifications in areas such as marketing and communications.

Genuinely worthwhile
The programme genuinely lives up to its reputation. The best part: the course strikes a good balance between theory and practical application. If I'm honest, the timetable has some awkward 9am / Friday afternoon slots. On the city β€” the cit…

Would do it again
I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: the opportunity to do independent research in the final year is a highlight. If I'm honest, admin can be slow to respond, especially at start of term. On the city β€” good tr…
