About this course

Modern business operates across borders, and the managers who navigate it most effectively are those who understand not just the commercial and organisational dimensions of their work but also the cultural, linguistic, and international contexts in which decisions are made. This programme at Bristol addresses that need directly, combining a rigorous grounding in business and management with an overseas dimension that takes you into a different country and requires you to engage with its language and business culture at first hand.

You will study the core areas of business and management, including strategy, marketing, finance, organisational behaviour, and operations, developing the analytical and commercial skills that Bristol's business school is known for. A foundation year is available for students who need additional preparation before entering the main degree. The overseas study component integrates a modern language into your academic programme, and you will spend time studying in a country where that language is spoken, building both linguistic competence and direct experience of a different business and cultural environment.

The four-year structure gives you the time to develop both the management content and the language skills to a level that is genuinely useful rather than superficial.

Graduates are well placed for careers that have an international dimension, and that now includes a very wide range of roles in multinational corporations, professional services firms, financial institutions, international organisations, and businesses with significant export or overseas operations. The combination of management training and linguistic ability is valued by employers who need people who can operate across cultures as well as analyse and solve business problems. Further study, including postgraduate degrees in management, international business, or related fields, is also a natural route.
