Bulgarian and Danish

Danish is a North Germanic language, closely related to Norwegian and Swedish, and the language of one of Europe's most prosperous and socially progressive nations, with a literary tradition that includes Hans Christian Andersen and Søren Kierkegaard and a contemporary culture known for design, film, and television.
At University College London, this four-year full-time programme provides rigorous linguistic and cultural training in both languages. UCL's School of Slavonic and East European Studies brings expert knowledge of Bulgarian within the broader context of Eastern European studies, while Scandinavian studies at UCL covers Danish language and culture with depth and precision. You will develop genuine proficiency in both languages, engage with their literary and cultural traditions, and study the historical and social contexts that have shaped them.
The four-year structure allows time to develop real fluency and critical engagement with two languages that are structurally quite different from each other and from English, requiring sustained and careful study.
