About this course

Biomedical systems engineering applies engineering principles to some of the most important problems in healthcare, designing the devices, systems, and technologies that diagnose, monitor, and treat disease. It sits at the boundary between engineering and medicine, combining knowledge from mechanical and electronic engineering, computer science, physiology, and biology to develop solutions that work reliably in biological environments. From imaging systems and prosthetic limbs to wearable sensors and robotic surgery tools, biomedical engineers are behind the technology that modern clinical medicine depends on.

This three-year full-time degree at the University of Warwick develops specialist knowledge across biomedical problem-solving and healthcare technology design. You will study the engineering principles underpinning medical devices and systems alongside the biological and physiological context in which they operate, learning how to analyse problems that span both domains.
