About this course

Biomedical science is the application of scientific principles to the understanding and diagnosis of human disease, sitting between biological research and clinical medicine. It covers a broad range of disciplines, from haematology and medical microbiology to clinical biochemistry and histopathology, using laboratory techniques to analyse samples from patients and to develop the understanding needed to improve diagnosis and treatment. Biomedical scientists work behind the scenes of the health service, and their work underpins the clinical decisions that doctors make every day.
