About this course

Biology is the study of life in all its forms, from genes to ecosystems, and Keele's Biology BSc explores the fascinating intricacies of life in its broadest sense while offering opportunities to specialise in topics aligned to your interests, from animal behaviour to human genetics. The discipline encompasses molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, physiology, ecology, evolutionary biology, and the many subdisciplines that address specific aspects of living systems. Biology graduates develop both the scientific understanding of how life works and the practical and analytical skills that biological research and its applications require.

At the University of Keele, this three-year full-time programme gives you access to a 600-acre diverse campus that serves as a living laboratory for ecological and environmental fieldwork, alongside state-of-the-art David Attenborough Laboratories for more controlled experimental work. Integrated employability modules ensure that the development of professional skills runs alongside the academic content throughout the degree. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placements, giving you direct professional experience in biology-related fields and the international perspective that scientific careers increasingly require.

With a typical entry tariff of 120 UCAS points, this is an accessible programme at a campus university known for its interdisciplinary approach. You will graduate with the academic, practical, and professional skills required for careers as varied as ecological consultancy to pharmaceutical sales. Further careers include biomedical research, conservation, the NHS and healthcare science, science education, environmental management, food and agricultural science, biotechnology, and the many roles in industry, government, and research that need people with genuine biological understanding.

Many graduates also continue to postgraduate study in biology, ecology, biomedical science, or a related discipline.

I was sceptical before starting β€” now I'd recommend it to anyone. The best part: the teaching staff are genuinely world-class and accessible. If I'm honest, some seminar groups were too big for meaningful discussion. On the city β€” the city …
