About this course

Biochemistry sits at the intersection of biology and chemistry, and it asks one of the most fundamental questions in science: how does life work at the molecular level? At the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, this three-year, full-time programme includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and work placement experience, giving it a strong professional dimension alongside the academic core. You will study biochemistry from its foundations in organic chemistry and cell biology through to advanced topics in molecular biology, structural biochemistry, metabolic regulation, and biotechnology.
