Biochemistry is the molecular science of life. It studies the chemical processes and substances that occur within living organisms, from the way proteins are built and fold into functional shapes to the mechanisms by which DNA is copied and read, and from the metabolic pathways that power cells to the signalling cascades that coordinate organ function.
