About this course

Biochemistry is the molecular science of living systems, applying the principles and methods of chemistry to understand the complex molecules and reactions that underlie life. It investigates the structures and functions of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids and carbohydrates, the metabolic pathways through which cells produce energy and biosynthesise essential molecules, the mechanisms of cell signalling and gene regulation, and the molecular basis of disease.
