About this course

Astronomy, space science, and astrophysics sit at the furthest frontier of scientific inquiry, addressing questions about the origin and structure of the universe, the lives and deaths of stars, the nature of dark matter and dark energy, and the possibility of life beyond Earth. At the University of Kent this three-year, full-time programme develops your understanding of astronomy, astrophysics, and space science through a curriculum that combines rigorous physical and mathematical foundations with observational and data analysis skills. You will study the physics of stars, galaxies, cosmology, and the solar system alongside the techniques used to observe and interpret astronomical data, and you will engage with the science that underpins the rapidly growing space sector. Kent's connection to the Royal Observatory Greenwich and its research in space science give the programme genuine depth and professional relevance.

Graduates of astronomy, space science, and astrophysics go on to careers in the space industry, research institutions, science communication, data science, education, and technology.
