About this course

Work placement opportunities | International students can apply An Art History degree is ideal for those who are curious about why art, design, and architecture appear as they do. If you enjoy visiting museums and galleries and learning about the objects on display, studying Art History allows you to explore the historical and cultural contexts that shape visual and material culture. This degree provides graduates with a systematic understanding of the methods art historians use to analyse visual images and objects, as well as the methods and processes involved in the making and analysis of material culture.

In your three years, you'll explore art and visual culture from a wide historical range. You'll focus on modern and contemporary art. Hope’s partnership with Tate Liverpool and National Museums Liverpool enriches the course.

You'll hear from guest speakers in the museum field. You'll also get access to Liverpool’s best art collections. The course focuses on critical thinking and visual literacy.

It explores different approaches and theories in art history.
