About this course

Aerospace engineering sits at the intersection of some of the most demanding challenges in physics, materials science and systems design. It encompasses the conception, development and operation of aircraft, spacecraft, propulsion systems and the complex software and structures that keep them airworthy and reliable. As global aviation expands and the space economy grows rapidly, engineers who can design safe, efficient and sustainable flight systems are in exceptionally high demand.

At Liverpool, you will study the core principles that underpin flight: aerodynamics, structural mechanics, thermodynamics, propulsion and flight dynamics. You will also develop skills in computational methods, control systems and materials engineering, building the analytical and design confidence needed to work on real aerospace programmes. This four-year programme includes a year in industry, which gives you the opportunity to apply what you have learned in a professional engineering environment.

Working within a company, whether an aerospace manufacturer, defence contractor or research organisation, you gain first-hand experience of engineering workflows, team dynamics and project delivery, and this practical exposure significantly strengthens your readiness for a graduate career. The typical entry tariff for this programme is 136 UCAS points.

Aerospace graduates go on to work in commercial aviation, defence, space agencies, consultancy and advanced manufacturing. Roles span aerodynamic design, structural analysis, propulsion engineering, project management and systems integration. Many graduates also pursue postgraduate research, chartered engineering status through professional institutions, or move into adjacent fields such as automotive and marine engineering where the underlying principles transfer directly.
