About this course

Accounting and Finance combined with Sport and Physical Education is a joint honours degree that brings together two fields with their own distinct characters but a set of complementary skills. Accounting and finance develops the technical and analytical competence needed to understand how organisations measure and manage their financial performance, while Sport and Physical Education examines the pedagogy, sociology, physiology and management of sport and physical activity across educational and community contexts. The combination reflects the commercial and financial complexity of the modern sports industry, as well as the broad applicability of accounting and finance skills across every sector in which sport and PE graduates work.

At Liverpool Hope University, this four-year full-time programme includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad and work placement opportunities, giving you substantial professional and international experience across both disciplines. You will develop technical competence in financial reporting, management accounting and financial analysis alongside your study of sport and PE, building the dual expertise that prepares you for roles where both sets of skills are valued. The placement and work experience elements are central to the programme's design, connecting your academic learning to professional practice in both the business and sport sectors.

Graduates from this combination degree pursue careers across sport, education, finance and business. Sport finance, sport administration, facilities management, teaching of physical education, sports development and coaching are all natural paths, as are roles in commercial finance, accounting practice and business management. Many graduates complete professional qualifications in accounting or progress to postgraduate study in sport management, finance or education, and the breadth of the degree keeps a wide range of options open after graduation.
