About this course

Accounting and finance with sport and physical education is an unusual but practically well-grounded combination, preparing students for careers that may span the financial side of sports business or the management and educational dimensions of the sports sector, as well as offering the flexibility to pursue either pathway independently. Accounting and finance develops the technical skills needed for professional financial work, including financial reporting, investment analysis, and the governance of financial resources. Sport and physical education brings understanding of how the sports sector is organised and how physical activity and coaching are taught and developed.

At Liverpool Hope University, this three-year full-time degree develops competence in both areas simultaneously. The accounting and finance component provides a strong strategic and technical grounding, preparing you for financial decision-making at a management level. The sport and physical education component explores the science, pedagogy, and professional dimensions of sport, physical activity, and coaching.

A sandwich year, year abroad, and work placement opportunities are built into the degree, giving you professional and international experience across both fields. The typical entry tariff is 120 points.

Graduates from this combined programme pursue a variety of paths. Many enter financial services, accountancy practice, or corporate finance roles, while others move into sport management, facility administration, coaching, physical education teaching, or the growing field of sports business. The combination gives graduates flexibility in their career direction, and the business credibility of an accounting qualification alongside knowledge of the sports sector is increasingly valued by sports organisations that need financial expertise.

Postgraduate study in accounting, finance, sport management, or education is a natural continuation.
