About this course

Accounting and Finance and Business Management is a combination that equips you with technical financial expertise alongside the broader commercial and strategic understanding that management careers demand. Accounting provides the language of business, enabling organisations to record and report their financial activities with accuracy and transparency. Finance extends this into the analysis of capital markets, investment decisions, and the financial risks that organisations face.

Business management connects both to the operational and strategic realities of running an organisation, adding knowledge of marketing, human resources, operations, and strategy.

At Liverpool Hope University, this four-year, full-time programme includes a foundation year, a sandwich year, and a year abroad, as well as work placement opportunities. The foundation year provides the academic preparation students need before beginning the main degree. You will study a range of topics across accounting, finance, and management, developing both the rigorous technical skills of financial practice and the broader strategic outlook that senior management roles require.

The year abroad adds an international dimension, and the sandwich year and placements give you substantial professional experience before you graduate, allowing you to apply your academic learning in real business or financial environments.

Graduates of Accounting and Finance and Business Management pursue careers in accounting, financial management, corporate finance, banking, consulting, and the finance functions of organisations across every sector. Many pursue professional qualifications with bodies such as the ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA, for which the degree provides a strong foundation. Others move into postgraduate study in business administration, finance, or management, and some enter management training programmes with major employers.

The combination of financial rigour and commercial awareness makes these graduates attractive to a wide range of organisations.
