About this course

Accounting and finance sits at the centre of how organisations make decisions, allocate resources and account for their activities to investors, regulators and the public. The discipline combines rigorous quantitative analysis with conceptual understanding of how financial systems work, how value is created and destroyed, and how organisations and markets behave under different conditions. For students interested in careers in business, investment, corporate finance or the accountancy profession, it provides both the technical grounding and the analytical framework that employers consistently demand.

At the University of Warwick you will study a professionally orientated programme that develops your competence across financial reporting, management accounting, corporate finance, investment and the regulatory environment within which financial professionals operate. The course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to operate effectively in multinational companies and global financial markets. Careful selection of module combinations may lead to exemptions from a number of professional accountancy examinations, which can give you a meaningful head start on the route to qualification.

The programme runs full time over three years.

You will develop proficiency in quantitative methods, financial modelling and data analysis alongside the conceptual understanding needed to interpret financial information and advise on strategic decisions. The ability to communicate complex financial information clearly is also a central part of your training, as is developing professional judgement about ethical questions that arise in financial practice.

Graduates from accounting and finance programmes at a university of this standing are well placed to pursue careers in accountancy, investment banking, asset management, corporate finance, financial consulting and financial technology. Many go on to qualify with professional bodies including the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, or the CFA Institute. Postgraduate study in finance, financial economics or business administration is also a common route for those seeking specialist or research-oriented careers.

Would do it again
Honestly, one of the best decisions I've made. The best part: the accounting and finance streams are taught by practitioners, not just academics. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city β€” go…
