Garage Managers and Proprietors
What you'd actually do
As a garage manager or proprietor, you run a garage where cars are repaired and serviced. You manage mechanics and support staff, handle customer problems and complaints, and make sure every car that leaves your garage is safe and fixed properly. You also look after the money - budgeting, tracking costs, ordering parts, and checking that the business is making profit.
Your day might involve greeting customers, solving problems when a repair takes longer than expected, training new technicians, or working out whether to buy new equipment. As electric cars become more common, you need to keep learning new technology. You work with your hands sometimes, manage people carefully, and understand that customers depend on you to keep their cars running safely.
