Exploring the culture, history and politics of the United States, alongside many aspects of British, European and world history. International students that have already submitted a UCAS application should apply via our Clearing System. Our American Studies and History degree at Swansea University offers you a unique opportunity to explore the culture, politics and global influence of the United States, alongside the rich and diverse histories of Britain, Europe and the wider world. This interdisciplinary programme addresses some of the most urgent issues of our time, including globalisation, civil rights, and struggles for racial and social justice. Throughout your studies you will develop a broad and critical understanding of historical and cultural change, while gaining transferable skills highly valued by employers, such as analytical thinking, communication and research expertise. Our degree is flexible, allowing you to tailor your studies to your interests, whether they are in US popular culture, political protest, heritage or the history of medicine and disability. You will also have the opportunity to study abroad in North America for a semester or a full year, deepening your understanding of American society and culture through first-hand experience.
