The Role & Expectations
As a road transport driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods across various distances, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to strict safety regulations. This role requires excellent time management skills, as you will often be working to tight schedules, navigating through traffic, and planning routes efficiently to avoid delays. You will also need to maintain your vehicle, ensuring it is in good working order and compliant with all legal requirements, which is crucial for both safety and efficiency.
Daily Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on your vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
- Plan and navigate routes using GPS and maps to optimise delivery times.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring they are secured properly for transport.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Communicate with dispatchers and clients to provide updates on delivery status.
