Fast Food Worker

A fast food worker prepares and serves food quickly in restaurants and takeaways, on the till, the grill or the drive-through. It is busy, team-based work that is easy to start and suits people who like a fast pace and don't mind a bit of pressure at the rush.

The Role & Expectations

The job is taking orders, cooking and assembling food to set standards, serving customers, handling payments and keeping everything clean. Speed, teamwork and staying friendly under pressure matter, especially at busy times when orders pile up and the queue grows.

The work is on your feet, often hot and fast-paced, with shifts that can include evenings, weekends and late nights, and pay usually around the minimum wage. It can be repetitive and tiring, but it is a common first job that teaches teamwork, reliability and customer service.

No qualifications are needed and you get trained on the job, following food hygiene rules from day one. It is a classic entry-level role, and many people move up to shift supervisor or manager.
